A Streetcar Named Desire

Description:

Assembly Theatre is seeking submissions for its production of A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams for the following roles:

Stella, Eunice, Steve, Pablo, Young Collector, Nurse, and Doctor. We encourage anyone who wants to audition to sign up.

This show will be site specific—taking place inside of a real apartment. The audience will be inches away from the actors at given parts in the play for an immersive experience (think of Sleep No More in NY). Audience sizes will range from 15-25 depending on the night.

Auditions:

Auditions will be held in the studio at Dodd Camera (2844 W Armitage Ave) on February 15th from 12-3 PM. If you cannot make this time, please let us know!

Rehearsals:

Flexible depending on actor availability, but we will start early March (Weekday evenings, some Saturday mornings). Must be available May 18-20 for tech rehearsals.

Performances:

May 21-24, 28-31, and June 4-7.

Location:

Rehearsals will take place in Logan Square—most likely at the Dodd Camera Studio. Show will be performed at an apartment in Logan Square (close to the Logan Square Monument).

About us:

Assembly Theatre is a smaller theatre that was founded in Spring of 2022 and this will be our 6th production. The creative team is led by Caspar Carter and Lilia Smith, who will play Stanley and Blanche respectively. Andy Mangin will direct the production in a supportive role and will be in the room with actors about every other week. The remaining rehearsals will be led by Caspar, Lilia, and the Stage Manager. Slots are first come, first serve, but please feel free to fill out the form and let us know if you can’t make the audition on the given date—we will be accepting self-tapes as well.
